Ibrox Foodbank Centre Re-Opening

8th April 2024

It’s been longer than we had hoped, but today is finally the day! Our Ibrox Foodbank Centre is re-opening this afternoon.

For those who don’t know, we had to temporarily move out of our centre at Ibrox Parish Church due some extensive refurbishment work the building was undergoing. We stayed until the last possible minute, but had to close in mid July of last year. As is often the case with building work, especially in old buildings, there were some unexpected challenges along the way which extended the period of work. However, the builders are now gone and we have been able to move back in.

Ibrox Parish Church was one of our original Foodbank Centres when we opened, way back in 2013, and the changes that have been made to the space are fantastic. We’re really grateful that the Church allowed us to contribute our thoughts and ideas into the plans for the areas we will be using. This resulted in a much more functional space for us and, we hope, a more welcoming one for anyone coming to collect a food parcel.

Our new storage room also has some very sturdy shelving which was donated to us by Thales. Shelving is one of those background items that isn’t very glamorous, but it is essential for us. We’ve become quite the connoisseurs and have concluded the stronger the better! These ones fit the bill perfectly, thank you so much to Thales for helping us out.

The image below shows the new cafĂ© space in the Ibrox Foodbank Centre, isn’t it lovely? The photo was taken during the Church’s grand re-opening a couple of weeks ago. We’ve polished up our team’s tea and coffee making skills and are all ready for our first day back in one of our original homes.

As always, all of our Foodbank Centres, including those in churches, are open to anyone regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation and provide a safe, non-judgemental, space.

Our Ibrox Foodbank Centre will be open every Monday between 12 noon and 2pm. Further details, such as full address, link to a google map and public transport details can be found under the Locations tab above.
