Donate Food and Toiletries

We rely on your donations, big or small.

The Trussell Trust have stated that over 90% of the food distributed by foodbanks in their network is donated by the public, that’s an amazing figure! Given the continuous rise in the cost of living and in prices at the tills, at Glasgow South West Foodbank, we are not hitting that 90% at the moment. However, we know, that without the donations of food and toiletries that we do receive, we would not be able to operate.

Glasgow South West Foodbank is a part of the Trussell Trust network but we are actually a small, independent local charity in our own right.  We rely on donations of food, toiletries and funds in order to stay open. Foodbanks are not Government funded (a common misconception) and we do not receive regular, guaranteed, funding from any source. We need you.

As we said, we know the prices at the tills only seem to be going one way (remember when a Freddo was 10p?!), but we really need your help. If you are able to, please pop an item or two into your shopping basket for us and donate it. Each one really does make a difference.

Our shopping list on the right shows the food items that we need at the moment.

We have some donation points in local supermarkets which are available for you to drop donations in to, these are listed below;

Name and address of food donation point     Opening hours Location in Store
Tesco Extra Silverburn, 751 Barrhead Road, Glasgow. G53 6AG Open 6am – 12am Behind the till points
Asda Govan Superstore, 500 Helen Street, Glasgow. G51 3HR Open 24 hours Beside the exit

We are always happy to receive donations of in date, non perishable, food and toiletries. If you would like to bring your donations directly to us please contact us and we can arrange a time for you to drop them off, either at one of our Foodbank Centres or at our warehouse.

There is an app available called Bank the Food which we are testing out as a method of alerting supporters to the items we need at the moment. It’s very early days for us with this but if you would like to download it, it is a free app available on both IOS and Android, you can link in with us there. You can chose to receive alerts to your phone when you are near one of our donation points and a list of the items we need.

Very occasionally, we swap food with other nearby foodbanks if we have a surplus of something they need and they have a surplus of an item we need. Your donations will always go to helping people in food crisis in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.

Please contact us if you have any questions about donating food.
